They...She just couldn't be any cuter if she tried. They can fool you with those horns! The gene for polled-ness is dominant so one of her parents would have to be polled, but since you don't know about her sire that doesn't really help you.

The swirls can usually tell you but not always! I was sure Lotus was polled. She had no swirls and her mother is polled. I kept checking her for nubs for the first couple of weeks but felt nothing and finally quit checking. We then noticed at 6 weeks that she had little horns growing. That's the only reason she wasn't disudded...she tricked us!

So....you may not know for a few more weeks whether Luna is polled or not. Most of the time you will be able to tell by a few days old, but some of them like to take their time.blackcatcreekfarmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02910869559697039916noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9113326581808647426.post-45287538651894935722009-03-06T21:01:00.000-04:002009-03-06T21:01:00.000-04:00Oh, just ship her to me, Claire - Emma and I will ...Oh, just ship her to me, Claire - Emma and I will watch for horns!!

NancyMom Lhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15231969558161393080noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9113326581808647426.post-67282676008139011842009-03-06T15:28:00.000-04:002009-03-06T15:28:00.000-04:00I'd heard the same thing that spinner heard. Does the hair swirl?

Sue was listed as polled on her papers but now at a little over a year old she's growing small scurs.

Another thought, can you shave a bit of fur off the top of her head and see them better??

Good question...JLBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02258610911896060722noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9113326581808647426.post-45891820583732991862009-03-06T13:42:00.000-04:002009-03-06T13:42:00.000-04:00I have no experience with polled goats but I have ...I have no experience with polled goats but I have heard that if the hair swirls where the horns should be then they will have horns, if they don't have the swirls then they are naturally polled.

We can see if this is true, maybe you could post a close-up picture of the area.Pintura Springshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00015195965382050278noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9113326581808647426.post-73894540698673966612009-03-06T12:39:00.000-04:002009-03-06T12:39:00.000-04:00Oh my, Luna must be defective.
