Llama-riffic!

What a day! Exhausting, but very rewarding. Today we picked up our final llama pair to round out our herd to 6. We are the proud owners of RTC Black Eyed Pea and RTC Kahalua. They both originated from RTC Llama Ranch in Nebraska. Black Eyed Pea is the daughter of FFF Chiri Colipe, who was a suri silky llama stud. Kahalua is the son of Argentine Fresco, also a suri silky. Neither of the two llamas we bought is a suri silky, but they should both carry the trait, I believe. I'm a plant genetics person, not a llama genetics person, so experts, please step in to correct me if I'm wrong!

We also brought home a 3rd Jacob ewe, but I'll save her for another post. Right now, we are exhausted after a busy weekend and I can barely keep my eyes open to complete this post!

We've decided to name Black Eyed Pea after a suggestion from a good friend of mine, so Michelle in Raleigh, you should know that she is now Dolly Llama! We are still working on a name for Kahalua, because we're not sure about using his official name as his usual name.

    Oh they are so beautiful. If I wasn't moving in the fall I would have sheep, alpacas and Llamas

    The llamas are gorgeous! Wish I could be there with Diane this week! I've only been up close and personal with 1 lovely llama - years ago. His dad was known as Llama Lloyd here in Georgia, and raised pack llamas because they could go on most hiking trails that didn't allow horses.

    I assume you baptized the new livestock trailer?
