Still no lambs

Leslie, my blue-faced Leicester, is clearly not giving birth because she is holding a grudge.  I don't know what I did, or did not do, but she is holding it against me.  That is evidently the only excuse.  Her udder is huge, her official due date was Tuesday, and today was a snow storm (typical time to give birth).  All the signs say it should have been today.  She is doing this just to irritate me - I can tell.

In my desperate longing for lambs, I stumbled upon this blog, which was new to me...

Clearly, I have my next knitting project cut out for me.

The back end of the barn was finished today, but they must have left early due to the snow storm that whirled in.  Now we have a good 4-6 inches of new snow in the yard.  Yes, because we needed new snow.  Kind of like a hamster needs a cell phone.

We've been trying to trap the possum, so far without success.  Tonight, he killed two more chickens.  I'm getting very upset with said possum.  His cuteness factor is rapidly diminishing.  I'm not at all pleased about losing my only frizzle/silkie cross rooster.  He was very handsome and friendly.

If you can't tell so far, I'm having a bit of a bad day.  Here's hoping the weekend is better...

Hi, Claire - I missed checking your blog the last couple of days, so I just got to read 2 posts. First, I'm sorry Leslie is being so stubborn - but maybe she knew the storm was coming and didn't want the hassle right now.

2nd - your tiny new fluffy butts are beautiful!!! So very adorable!!

Oh for heavens sake! Silly sheep, stupid snow, ornery opossum, I am sorry it's a rough day, but you did give me a smile picturing a hamster talking to his 'peeps' on the cell phone.

I hope the lamb comes, and the snow and opossum go. Hang in there!

Oh dear, an uncooperative ewe, a lambie craving, new snow and a hungry possum do add up to a no-good, very-bad day! I hope the weekend improves for you; death to possums, life to lambs!

Hi Claire!
We fortunately don't have much problems with possums, but we had a weasel make its presence know in our chicken 'room' (it's part of the barn) by leaving a dead duck behind. The cat that killed the last weasel- she was hit by a car. Now we really hope we won't loose the rest of the flock! Weasels seem to kill mainly for the pleasure of it.
And I'm nigh certain that a possum is only an over sized weasel. Hehehe.
Hope the lamb(s!) come alright.

I hope you get your little lamb soon, and that dreadful overgrown rodent is caught and taken away! Best wishes that your days get better!

see, you need a perseus. any possum that ever got near ended up in tree or running the other way. they are quite lazy dogs until something comes within their smelldar. then they are like lightning. the human thinks llamas are fine but you really need a white furball with teeth. she has never had to teach them to do their job either, they all just knew what to do. get one!! oh and sheep are evil. as far as the snow problem well thats our fault. all the terrible snow we were supposed to get we never got.

I hope you have had a birth by now! Good luck with the lambing.

Possums can be such a nuisance. I hope it has a really bad day and soon!

Oh my! I just hope the weekend ended with a wonderful birth. The opossum has really overstayed his welcome-try more peanut butter.

The barn looks great and how nice to look at mud instead of snow. I not sure we have any ground left.

Oh my, I hope it starts to go better right away for you! Bad possum, bad snow. And hurry up Leslie!

Hi Claire - Very neat lambie sweaters. I may have to start knitting for next year's lambs.

You may be waiting for your BFLs to lamb, but it's worth the wait! Mine have grown so much within just a few days. Heading out to the barn in a few to feed and check on things.
